Description
Easy Creamy Ranch Chicken combines tender chicken breasts with ranch seasoning, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic, onion, and optional cheddar cheese. Everything bakes together until the chicken turns juicy and the creamy ranch sauce becomes hot and bubbling. Serve it with mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables for a simple and comforting family dinner.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
1 packet ranch seasoning mix, about 3 tablespoons
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup, 10.5 ounces
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Fresh chives, chopped, for garnish
Mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables, for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a medium baking dish.
2. Pat the chicken breasts dry. Pound thicker portions gently if needed so the chicken cooks evenly.
3. Rub the chicken with olive oil or melted butter. Season lightly with salt and black pepper, then coat both sides with about half of the ranch seasoning.
4. Combine the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, remaining ranch seasoning, and optional cheddar cheese in a bowl. Stir until smooth.
5. Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
6. Spread the creamy ranch sauce evenly over the chicken, allowing some sauce to settle around each breast.
7. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes.
8. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
9. Remove the baking dish from the oven and allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes.
10. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and serve warm with mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables.
Notes
Chicken breasts vary in thickness, so always check doneness with an instant-read thermometer.
The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Season cautiously because ranch seasoning and condensed soup already contain sodium.
For a lighter variation, use reduced-fat sour cream or plain Greek yogurt and reduced-fat cheddar.
For a thinner sauce, stir in an additional splash of milk.
Store cooked chicken and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
