Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch cake pans.
2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time and mix well.
4. Add vanilla extract.
5. Whisk flour, baking powder, and matcha powder in a separate bowl.
6. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to wet ingredients.
7. Divide batter between pans.
8. Bake for 25–30 minutes.
9. Cool cakes completely.
10. Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar to make frosting.
11. Assemble layers with frosting between each layer.
12. Frost top and sides.
13. Decorate with matcha powder or fresh berries.
14. Chill for 30 minutes before serving.
